According to the State of CA, chiropractors, physical therapists, and acupuncturists are not required to close in the mandates. Similarly, massage therapists working at clinical locations are not required to close. We have verified with the massage regulatory body for the city of SLO that our office has been categorized as clinical due to our location at a chiropractic building. Therefore, we are open for appointments.
Your safety is our priority. If you have fever or any other symptoms of illness please reschedule your appointment and your therapist will do the same. Temperature checks are available at our office. We must limit the use of our waiting room. If you have a companion, they need to wait outside the building. We are spacing appointments out in longer intervals to allow for deep cleaning. We are also reducing foot traffic into the space. At times, you may cross paths with another client who is arriving or leaving, but we are taking steps to reduce this occurrence.
Your therapist will wear a mask during your entire visit, and she will specifically wear an FDA approved KN95 (or similar) while in the treatment room . The state of CA is also asking everyone to wear masks at business locations. People experience breathing restriction while wearing a mask face-down on the massage table. Therefore, we are using a system that allows you to go mask-free while you are face-down: We use a cloth barrier that hangs low enough to allow you to breath freely, yet it functions like a mask. This barrier is changed after each client. Best practice is to wear a mask when you enter and exit the building. You can take it off while you are face-down on the table, and wear the mask when you are face-up. In accordance with CA guidelines, medical exemptions to the mask may apply.
We use 70% isopropyl alcohol to sanitize all common area hard surfaces, door handles, bathroom surfaces, and equipment in the treatment room after every session. Our massage room has a ventilation fan attached to the window and we can continuously circulate fresh air into the room. As usual, all treatment table linens, towels, and face cradle covers are laundered for each client. Underneath the linens, the face cradle and massage table have polyurethane covers that we sanitize with alcohol after each session.
Your therapist thoroughly washes hands right before the treatment. As an extra precaution, we also spray our hands with alcohol solution before entering the treatment room. If you are receiving ashiatsu massage, this protocol also applies to feet. During your session, we will avoid face-massage, unless otherwise requested. Our credit card processing device will be sanitized with alcohol solution before and after each usage. We also accept contact-less payment through Google, Apple Pay, and Venmo. Finally, we provide hand sanitizer for your convenience along with anti-bacterial soap in our bathroom.
